The Lofts, home to two new studios, Three and Four, is on the seventh floor of GCRS and has
been designed in collaboration with long-term partner Derek Samuel. Unlike traditional studio designs,
the spaces within The Lofts have been created in order to give maximum light and space, with a soft,
airy colour scheme. Both studios have access to panoramic roof terraces, with Studio 4’s terrace
being completely private.
The new state of the art speakers, specifically developed by Exigy, feature a revolutionary technology
which allows guests to hear a perfect mix wherever they are in the room, eliminating the dreaded monitoring
’sweet spot’ and transforming the audio experience. Both studios have AMS Neve DFC mixing consoles
and Protools HDX systems.
Bespoke furniture has been created for the space by Another Country and Arper. The roof terraces have
furniture by Patricia Urquiola for Kettal, with studio specialist designers AKA providing original design voiceover
tables. Every aspect of the design has been chosen in order to provide maximum comfort,
calm and very best in audio experience.

Eight state of the art digital studios: All are designed and built to the highest
world acoustic and technical standards for audio postproduction. Studios 5 and 8
are certified for Dolby 7.1 with Studio 5 also having the unique ability for 3D
projection / real time playback. Studios 7 and 9 are Dolby 5.1 certified.
All eight studios are equipped with Avid Pro Tools HDX or HDX2, along with a full
range of plug-ins, additional software and the required outboard equipment to maximise
creativity for sound design and sound manipulation. The additional software also means
we can run a multi format system, allowing us to develop both our VR and ADR platforms.
Six of our studios contain AMS Neve DFC Geminis, allowing hugely dynamic mixing
capabilities essential for both our stereo, cinematic and VR work, whilst Studios 1 and 6
house Avid S6 consoles allowing full compatibility with our Pro Tools systems.
All studios can connect with other facilities anywhere in the world via the ISDN codecs:
APT, CDQ and Zephyr. Additionally, Source Connect and TBU are available in all rooms.
Our 10Gb network allows instant playback / import from our 600,000+ SFX server.
A common core of technical hardware in all the main studio areas is also key in allowing us
to move sessions from A to B with minimum downtime. This gives clients flexibility when
booking sessions for sound designer choice, studio features and size.
A combination of talented, adaptable sound designers, a unique range of studios
and pioneering technology, allow us to approach each creative process holistically,
maximizing the potential of each spot to advance from dynamic stereo mix to any
of today’s ever expanding formats.
